OKLAHOMA BAPTIST CLAIMS 2018 GAC WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist earned their first GAC women's tennis tournament championship with a 5-2 victory against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The Lady Bison, the tournament's top seed, won two of three doubles matches to assume the early lead. Kateryna Shkot and Kim Moosbacher won 8-5 at #1 doubles, while Tahila Walsh and Madeleine Boepple used a late break to claim an 8-6 victory at #2 doubles.
Diana Budnik drew Southeastern even in the match at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the #6 singles position, but Oklahoma Baptist won the last three singles matches to close it out.
Walsh got the Lady Bison on the board in singles with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at #3 singles. Moosbacher put them on the edge of victory with her 7-5, 6-0 success in #2 singles. Alex Bowers earned the clinching point by virtue of her 6-3, 6-0 win at #4 singles.
The Lady Bison qualify for their first NCAA Division II regional appearance and improved their record to 14-4 on the season.
