#theGAC WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (WEEK SIX)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s soccer players of the week for the sixth week of the season. Southern Nazarene’s Gabriella Ponce and Avery Pyle captured the Offensive and Defensive Player honors. Ouachita Baptist’s Taylor Hapgood won the Goalkeeper award.

#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Gabriella Ponce, MF, Southern Nazarene, Fr., Wylie, Texas
Ponce scored twice in the Crimson Storm’s 4-0 road win against East Central. She opened the scoring with a second-minute goal off an assist from Bella Morgas. In the 26th minute, she doubled the Crimson Storm’s advantage with her third goal of the season.

#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Avery Pyle, D, Southern Nazarene, Sr., League City, Texas
Pyle played 84 minutes in the Crimson Storm’s 4-0 road win against Central. She led a Crimson Storm defensive effort that limited the Tigers to nine shots, three on goal. The win represented their third shutout of the season - and their first this year against a GAC foe.

#theGAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Taylor Hapgood, GK, Ouachita Baptist, So., Edmond, Oklahoma
Hapgood extended her scoreless streak to 325:37 after she recorded road shutouts against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. She made five saves as part of a scoreless draw with the Bulldogs. She made a season-high seven saves in a 1-0 win against the Rangers. She lowered her goals-against average to 1.58.
