#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (WEEK SIX)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s basketball players of the week for the sixth week of the season. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Kira Bass earned the Offensive Player of the Week honor and Southern Arkansas’ Elena Lijo-Rodriguez garnered the Defensive Player of the Week award.

#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kira Bass, C, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Kileen, Texas
Bass led the Rangers in a home victory against Southern Nazarene. She recorded her third-straight 20-point performance as she scored a season-high 28 points in the 67-55 win. She went 12-for-16 from the floor to raise her season-long field-goal percentage to a GAC-leading 55.3 percent. She added 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.

#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Elena Lijo-Rodriguez, F, Southern Arkansas, Sr., A Coruna, Spain
Lijo-Rodriguez averaged 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks as the Muleriders picked up three wins to improve to 8-3. In a come-from-behind win against Henderson State, she grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked four shots. She notched her third double-double of the season. Against Ouachita Baptist, she collected nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
