RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the volleyball players of the week for the second week of the season. Henderson State’s Katilyn Steffes won Offensive Player of the Week; Southern Arkansas’ Sadie Kabisch claimed Defensive Player of the Week and Harding’s Olivia Wiedower earned Setter of the Week.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Katilyn Steffes, OH, Henderson State, Sr., Rochester, Minnesota
Steffes helped the Reddies go 3-1 at the Reddie-Tiger Challenge. She averaged 4.75 kills per set across the four contests and hit .263 for the week. In a win against Auburn Montgomery, she finished with 14 kills and 12 digs. After tallying 17 digs and 17 kills against UAFS, she followed up with 17 kills against Mississippi College and a career-high tying 28 kills against UT Dallas.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sadie Kabisch, L, Southern Arkansas, Sr., Henrietta, Texas
Kabisch paced the Mulerider defense as they collected three wins. She averaged a GAC-leading 5.88 digs per set across five games. She notched at least 17 in all five games. She came up with 22 against Bridgeport, 21 against St. Martin’s and 23 against Lake Erie. She added three service aces.
#theGAC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK – Olivia Wiedower, S, Harding, Jr., Conway, Arkansas
Wiedower recorded three double-doubles as the Lady Bisons went 3-1 at the Southwest Baptist Invitational. After amassing 37 assists and 13 digs against Christian Brothers, she followed up with 41 assists and 13 digs in a five-set win against the hosting Bearcats. On Saturday, she had 40 assists and 10 digs against Union and 34 assists in a sweep of Missouri Southern State.
