#theGAC/MIAA MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (WEEK TWO)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC/MIAA men’s soccer players of the week for the second week of the season. Newman’s Yohsuke Ono earned the Offensive Player honor; Fort Hays State’s Dimitry Tchantcheu and Rogers State’s Alex Laing shared the Defensive Player accolade and Northeastern State’s Cameron McColloch won the Goalkeeper award.

#theGAC/MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Yohsuke Ono, MF, Newman, Jr., Tokyo, Japan
Ono paced the Jets offense in a 4-1 win against William Jewell and a 3-3 draw with Midwestern State. He scored in the 14th minute against the Cardinals. He added assists on two second-half goals. Against the Mustangs, he converted a rebound in the 15th minute for a goal that gave the Jets a two-goal advantage.

#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dimitry Tchantcheu, D, Fort Hays State, Sr., Beauvais, France
Tchantcheu played the full 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw against No. 3 Colorado State-Pueblo. He helped the Tigers limit the Thunderwolves to just six shots in the match. Against Thomas More, he played 88 minutes in the 2-0 victory. The Tiger defense held the Saints to just eight shots in the match.

#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Alex Laing, D, Rogers State, Sr., London, England
Laing helped the Hillcats record a pair of 1-0 victories. He played 67 minutes against Rockhurst. The defense held the Jays to only three shots on goal. In a road win against Oklahoma Christian, he played 65 minutes. The Eagles mustered only one shot on goal.

#theGAC/MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Cameron McColloch, GK, Northeastern State, Jr., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
McColloch notched the first two shutouts of his career as he and the RiverHawks defeated Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State. He made six saves in a 1-0 win against the Chaps. He followed up with three saves against Midwestern State. The RiverHawks defeated the Mustangs on the road for the first time since 2016.
