RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s soccer players of the week for the second week of the season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Saoirse Hourigan won Offensive Player of the Week; Harding’s Calle Citty claimed Defensive Player of the Week and Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Taylor Annen earned Goalkeeper of the Week.
#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Saoirse Hourigan, F, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Fr., Tottenham, England
Hourigan scored three goals and added an assist as SWOSU defeated Newman and Missouri Southern State. Against the Jets, she assisted on the tying goal and she came up with the winning goal on a 58th-minute tally. Against the Lions, she scored in the sixth minute and converted a penalty in the 81st minute. The Bulldogs have started 4-0 for the first time since 2012.
#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Calle Citty, D, Harding, Jr., Searcy, Arkansas
Citty helped the Lady Bisons in their 1-0-1 week as she played the full 180 minutes in contests against Christian Brothers and Rogers State. In a 1-1 draw with the Lady Buccaneers, the Harding defense surrendered just seven shots on goal. In a 2-1 win against the Hillcats, the defense gave up just eight shots - three on goal. In the 29th minute, she netted the matches’ first goal.
#theGAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Taylor Annen, GK, Northwestern Oklahoma State, So., Plano, Texas
Annen earned shutouts against Sioux Falls and Black Hills State. She made a pair of saves in a 1-0 win against the Cougars. In a scoreless draw with the Yellow Jackets, she made five saves. She owns a 0.25 goals-against average on the season. The Rangers 3-0-1 start represents their best four-game start in their Division II era.
