RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC men’s basketball players of the week for the eighth week of the season. Oklahoma Baptist’s Terry Coner, Jr. claimed the Offensive Player of the Week award and Ouachita Baptist’s Christian Parks earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Coner, Jr. matched the GAC’s single-game high for points in a game this season when he scored 36 in a win against Arkansas Tech. He went 10-for-19 from the floor and made 6-of-11 3-point tries. He added four assists and three steals. In a comeback win against Harding, he scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists.

Parks averaged 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in two wins as the Tigers improved to 8-0 in GAC play for the first time. He ranks sixth in Division II with 38 blocks. The Tiger defense limited Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State to a combined 37.5 percent shooting. Ouachita leads the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 58.8 points per game.
