RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s basketball players of the week for the ninth week of the season. Arkansas Tech’ Logan Young claimed the Offensive Player of the Week award and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Landry Allen captured the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

Young recorded back-to-back 20-point games as the Golden Suns defeated East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State to move into a tie for first place at 8-2. She scored 24 points against the Tigers, including the go-ahead 3-point play with 9.7 seconds remaining. She scored 22 points against the Savage Storm. She made 16-of-24 shots in the two wins.

Allen, the No. 4 shot blocker in Division II, blocked a total of nine shots in two games last week. She registered four blocks, plus six rebounds and two steals in an overtime win against Southwestern Oklahoma State. She registered her sixth five-block game against Arkansas-Monticello. She added four rebounds and two steals.
