RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC women’s basketball players of the week for the tenth week of the season. Ouachita Baptist’s Heidi Robinson earned the Offensive Player of the Week honor while Southern Arkansas’ Elena Lijo-Rodriguez and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Landry Allen shared the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.
#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Heidi Robinson, G, Ouachita Baptist, Sr., Marmaduke, Arkansas
Robinson set the school’s Division I-era single-game scoring record and tied the GAC mark after she scored 48 points in the Tigers’ 89-56 victory against rival Henderson State. She went 15-for-26 from the field and connected on 9-of-16 3-point attempts. She scored 21 of Ouachita’s first 25 points. The 48 points represent the most in a Division II game this season.
#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Elena Lijo-Rodriguez, F, Southern Arkansas, Sr., A Coruna, Spain
Lijo-Rodriguez set career highs for rebounds, 15, and defensive rebounds, 11, to help the Muleriders defeat Arkansas- Monticello, 77-75, in double overtime. She blocked two shots for her 10th game this season with multiple blocks. She added 13 points to complete her fourth double-double of the season.
#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Landry Allen, F, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Jr., Tuttle, Oklahoma
Allen extended her streak of games with at least four blocks to seven after she collected six against Northwestern Oklahoma State. The six rejections tie her second-best single-game tally this season. She added six rebounds and three steals. She has multiple steals and blocks in six of her last seven games.
