RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC baseball weekly awards for the opening weekend of the season. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Alex Dabrowski claimed Player of the Week and Southern Nazarene’s Lane Benavides earned Pitcher of the Week.

Dabrowski terrorized the base paths in the Rangers’ series at Colorado Christian. He reached base 12 times in 20 plate appearances. He stole at least one base in all four games and finished the series 7-for-7 on stolen base attempts. He scored 10 runs and drove in four. He hit a lead-off home run in game two of the series and a two-run home run in game three.
#theGAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Lane Benavides, RP, Southern Nazarene, Jr., Ganado, Texas
Benavides tossed 6.1 innings of scoreless relief work in the opening game of the Crimson Storm’s series with New Mexico Highlands. He entered in the third inning with Southern Nazarene trailing 7-3. He proceeded to retire nine of the first 10 batters he faced. He struck out three and did not walk a batter as Southern Nazarene rallied for a 10-7 victory.
