RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the sixth women’s and men’s golfers of the week awards for the spring portion of the 2025-26 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Freya Sala earned the women’s honor and Southern Arkansas’ Luke Cote won the men’s award.
#theGAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Freya Sala, Sr., Southwestern Oklahoma State, Mexico City, Mexico
Sala led the Bulldogs to a third-place finish at the SMSU Classic in Litchfield Park, Arizona. After an opening-round 6-over-par 76, she came back with 2-over 72 to move up five positions on the leaderboard into fifth place. She made a tournament-leading seven birdies and posted an event-best 4.50 scoring average on par 5s.
#theGAC MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Luke Cote, Sr., Southern Arkansas, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
At the Oak Tree Invitational, Cote finished tied for sixth place in an event that featured six of Division II’s top 50 teams and 14 nationally-ranked individuals. He began with a 1-over round that featured three birdies. He followed up with four birdies in the second round. He led the field in par-4 scoring, 4.00.
