RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC baseball weekly awards for the ninth week of the season. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Jailon Goodfellow earned Player of the Week and Southern Arkansas’ Eli Hutcherson won Pitcher of the Week.
#theGAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jailon Goodfellow, OF, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Jr., Auburn, Washington
Goodfellow reached base 14 times in 16 plate appearances as the Rangers picked up four wins. Against Oklahoma Panhandle State, he scored twice and stole a base. Against Southern Nazarene, he homered and drove in three in game one. He homered, doubled and scored three times in game two. He closed the weekend with three hits and four RBI in the finale.
#theGAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Eli Hutcherson, SP, Southern Arkansas, Sr., Cabot, Arkansas
Hutcherson threw a two-hit masterpiece against Henderson State on Friday. In the 1-0 win, he limited the Reddies to two singles, one walk and one hit by pitch. In the fifth inning, he stranded a runner that reached third with one out. He finished by retiring the final 10 batters. He struck out a season-high 10 batters in the 124-pitch effort - SAU’s first shutout of the season.
