RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following a hastily-called meeting of the Great American Conference administrators and basketball coaches, the league announced it will implement changes to all conference basketball games for the 2026-7 season.

Occurring in all league games, and the 26-7 conference tournament, games will feature the “Elam Ending” with a target score of 67 points used to determine the winner. Offenses may exceed 67 points on the winning basket.

“Late-game strategy will completely change with this new ending,” Prewitt said. “Entirely too many games get decided at the foul line. Determining a target score came after countless hours of scrolling Tik Tok and Instagram. Younger fans are the future and we want to cater to them whenever possible. Often games drag late into the evening and implenting the Elam Ending score of six seeeeven should keep our fans engaged for the duration of our contests.
