BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma – Arkansas Tech completed a wire-to-wire win at the 2026 Great American Conference Men’s Golf Championships on Tuesday from The Club at Forest Ridge. Harding’s Dennis Staykov captured the individual medalist honor.
The Wonder Boys won their fourth GAC Championship title in program history, their first since 2021. They combined for a 12-over par 300 to finish six shots ahead of Harding. Tech placed three inside the top 10. Cameron Twynholm finished second. He finished the tournament at 1-over following a 5-over 77 on Tuesday. Jacob Peetoom joined Twynholm on the All-Tournament Team after he tied for fourth. His 4-over 76 featured an eagle on the par-5 18th hole. Landon Lawson added a 3-over 75 to tie for seventh. Roby Cooper produced the low round of the day for the Wonder Boys, an even-par 72.
Staykov became the second player in league history to win multiple GAC Championship individual titles. He also won in 2024. Arkansas Tech’s Henry Frizzell won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. Staykov also became only the third GAC Player of the Year to win the GAC Championship medalist award. He equaled the feat accomplished by Southern Nazarene’s Michael Hearne in 2014 and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Zach James in 2018. He shot a 2-under 70 and overcame a four-shot deficit.
Harding shot the low round of the day, a 3-over 291. Jose Arzu matched Staykov with a 2-under 70. He climbed 10 places into a tie for fourth to secure a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Jose Manuel Peralta shot a 1-under 73 to tie for 13th.
Southern Arkansas placed third, one shot ahead of Southwestern Oklahoma State. Luke Cote collected four birdies as part of an even-par round that gave him a sixth-place finish. Jett Stephenson also registered a top-10 finish after a final-round 2-over 74 left him tied for seventh. Collin Spangler carded a 4-over round to tie for 11th.
SWOSU’s Conrado Diaz Ermacora made three birdies and an eagle to post a 2-over 74. He finished third and earned an All-Tournament spot. Ryan Carlisle shot the Bulldogs’ low round of the day, 1-over 73, to move into the top 10.
Northwestern Oklahoma State claimed fifth, two shots clear of Henderson State. An-chieh Tsai led the Rangers on Tuesday with a 2-over 74. Chris Xiao and Pierce Geminden joined Tsai with top-20 finishes. The Reddies’ Ryan Carlisle shot his slow round of the week, an even-par 72, with five birdies to move up 11 spots to a tie for 13th. Colin Purifoy placed 11th and Cooper Williams made a tournament-leading 13 birdies.
East Central finished seventh, followed by Arkansas-Monticello, Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene. The Weevils’ Blayden Gillham made the biggest move up the leaderboard as his 1-under 71 resulted in a 23-place ascension into a tie for seventh. The Crimson Storm’s Dawson Dunlap tied for 18th.
The Wonder Boys secured the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Region Championships. The NCAA announces the regional selections on Sunday. Harding, SAU and SWOSU appeared in the most recent rankings.
