RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the 13th GAC women’s track & field athletes of the week recipients. Oklahoma Baptist’s Asia Foster earned the track honor and Harding’s Erika Konovalenko claimed the field award.
#theGAC TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Asia Foster, Sr., Oklahoma Baptist, Bridgetown, Barbados
Foster turned in the top national mark in the 400-meter dash at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational. She won the event by more than nine-tenths of a second with a time of 52.86 seconds. She broke the 53-second barrier for the first time in her career. Her time leads Division II by 0.92 seconds.
#theGAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Erika Konovalenko, Fr., Harding, Kherson, Ukraine
Konovalenko finished second in an elite field of javelin competitors at the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The event featured seven Division I athletes. She delivered a massive toss of 50.26m. This mark shattered the previous Harding school record of 47.64 meters and vaulted her to No. 4 in the NCAA Division II national rankings.
