RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has announced the league’s Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for the fourth week of play. Henderson State quarterback Kevin Rodgers set a GAC and HSU record with 595 passing yards to claim the Offensive honor. Ouachita Baptist’s Antwion Patterson recorded 4.5 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks to earn the Defensive award and Southern Arkansas’ Dylan Nowak averaged 49.0 yards per punt to win the Special Teams accolade.
GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK – Kevin Rodgers, Henderson State, QB, Jr., Rockwall, Texas
Rodgers set a single-game HSU and GAC record throwing for 595 yards against East Central. Rodgers had TD tosses of 28, 32, 41, and 28 yards. He also set a HSU record for completion percentage - 84.0 percent. Thus far, the 2012 Harlon Hill finalist has 16 touchdown tosses and compiled 1,827 yards. He has completed 117-of-170 passes for a completion percentage of 68.8.
GAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Antwion Patterson, Ouachita Baptist, DL, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.
Patterson led a dominating defensive effort for the Tigers as he totaled 10 tackles in their 45-7 victory against Southeastern Oklahoma State. He made 4.5 tackles-for-loss, including 2.5 sacks. He also forced and recovery a fumble early in the third quarter.
GAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dylan Nowak, Southern Arkansas, P/K, Jr., Pearland, Texas
Dylan Nowak averaged 49.0 yards per punt as he totaled 147 yards on three punts. His longest boot traveled 68 yards. He punted one inside the 20-yard line and one for a touchback. He also kicked three extra points in the 47-14 victory against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
