RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the fourth week of the 2015 baseball season. Southern Arkansas’ Billy Germaine earned the Player of the Week award and East Central’s Cam McKay repeated as the Pitcher of the Week.
GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Billy Germaine, Southern Arkansas, C/RF, Jr., Aldergrove, British Grove, Canada
Germaine led the Muleriders to a dominating sweep of Southern Nazarene. He picked up nine hits in 13 at-bats and posted a .733 on-base percentage. In the opener, Germaine hit a pair of home runs and drove in three. He scored twice in game two and capped the weekend with a 5-for-5 effort. In the three wins, SAU hit .410 and outscored the Crimson Storm 40-6.
GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Cam McKay, East Central, RHP, Sr., Acron, California
McKay improved to 3-1 as he threw he second-straight complete game as part of the Tigers’ second-straight sweep of a GAC foe. In game two of the series with Northwestern Oklahoma State, he allowed only four hitters to reach base. He struck out five and gave up just one run. His 1.17 ERA ranks third in the GAC and his .156 opponent’s batting average ranks second.
