GAC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (4/27/15)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s weekly awards for the final week of the 2015 baseball regular season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Brandon Grimsley won the Player of the Week award and Southern Arkansas’ Colton Strother garnered the Pitcher of the Week honor.
GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brandon Grimsley, Southeastern Oklahoma State, OF, Jr., Shawnee, Oklahoma
Grimsley helped secure the Savage Storm’s first GAC Championship appearance since 2012 by hitting .385 in their three-game series with East Central. He hit a pair of home runs in the series-opening 15-11 victory. He added a third long ball in game two, a 12-6 win. He slugged 1.077 over the three games and he collected eight RBI
GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Colton Strother, Southern Arkansas, LHP, Sr., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Strother kept the Muleriders' chances of GAC regular season championship alive as he picked up the win in the first game on Sunday against UAM. With SAU needing to sweep the Boll Weevils to have a chance, Strother went out and pitched seven strong innings. He scattered five singles, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out five.

- Joshua Caruso, Sr., 3B, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Hit four home runs, stole three bases and slugged 1.190)
- Ty Huie, Sr., OF, East Central (Went 6-for-12 with two stolen bases; scored eight runs)
- Keenan Jumper, Sr., C, Arkansas Tech (Hit. 462 and drove in five runs; hit. 556 in series sweep of Harding)
- Chris Quinn, Sr., SS, Southern Arkansas (Led Muleriders to a 4-0 week; went 7-for-14 and scored four runs)
- Jordan Taylor, So., DH/2B, Henderson State (Doubled three times and hit .533 in four games; went 8-for-12 against OBU)
NOTABLE PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Merrick Ardoin, Sr., RHP, East Central (In his first career start, the normal closer threw a complete game; struck out three)
- Jake Bersche, So., RHP, Northwestern Oklahoma State (In four relief appearances, allowed only one run and struck out five)
- Brady Colbert, Jr., RHP, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Threw 3.0 hitless innings vs East Central, earned a save in game one)
- Ethan Davis, Sr., RHP, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Threw a 9.0 inning complete game and earned a save vs NWOSU)
- Cody Jones, Jr., LHP, Arkansas Tech (Won vs Harding to complete series sweep; struck out six and allowed only one run)
