Tweet #theGAC RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s weekly awards for the 10th week of the 2015 baseball season. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Jeff Martin captured the Player of the Week award while Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Jon Chidester and Southern Arkansas’ Landon Simpson shared the Pitcher of the Week honor.
 
GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jeff Martin, Northwestern Oklahoma State, INF, Sr., Ajax, Ontario, Canada
Martin earned his second GAC Player of the Week honor as he hit .556 during the Rangers’ 3-2 week that included a series win against Henderson State. After going 4-for-6 with three runs scored in a doubleheader split with Rogers State, Martin went 6-for-12 against HSU and scored at least one run in all three games of the series. For the week, he collected five extra-base hits.
 
GAC BASEBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jon Chidester, Southwestern Oklahoma State, RHP, Jr., Rhome, Texas
Chidester claimed his third Pitcher of the Week as he defeated Ouachita Baptist, 3-0, to help the Bulldogs win the series against the first-place Tigers He carried a one-hitter into the ninth inning before giving up a pair of singles. He finished off the shutout, his first at SWOSU, to lower his ERA to 2.35 and with five strikeouts, he increased his total to a GAC-leading 62.
 
GAC BASEBALL CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Landon Simpson, Southern Arkansas, RHP, Jr., Magnolia, Arkansas
Simpson picked up his second GAC weekly honor of the season as he shut out Arkansas Tech in the opening game of the weekend series. He tossed his second straight shutout, and third in four games, as he held the Wonder Boys to seven hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter in lowering his ERA to a GAC-leading 1.51.
 
NOTABLE PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Dalen Edgar, So., 3B/SS, Southern Nazarene (Helped SNU go 3-1, including a win vs. Oklahoma Baptist [No. 1 NAIA]; hit. 429)
- Billy Germaine, Jr., OF/C, Southern Arkansas (Homered twice including a grand slam in finale against Arkansas Tech)
- Claude Johnson, Grad., 3B, Henderson State (Hit three home runs and drove in eight runs; slugged 1.231 in four games)
- Shane Kinnear, Sr., RF, Harding (Helped Bisons go 4-1; hit .438 with nine RBI; drove in a run in all five games; HU swept UAM)
- Bryce McKee, Sr., C, East Central (Went 9-for-18 with a home run and nine RBI in four games)
- Collin O’Neil, Jr., SS, Arkansas Tech (Hit .538 with six RBI as the Wonder Boys split their four games last week)

- Jason Bartlett, Sr., RHP, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Issued only one hit in 5.0 innings of work in win vs Rogers State)
- Andrew Fiddler, Jr., RHP, Harding (Threw a 7.0 inning shutout vs Arkansas-Monticello; allowed five hits and struck out four)
- Mason Pinion, Jr., RHP, Southern Nazarene (Tossed eight scoreless innings against East Central; held Tigers to a .214 average)
