GAC TENNIS AWARDS (3/9 - 3/22/2016)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league's top tennis players for the period of March 9 to March 22. Oklahoma Baptist’s Reda Jirari claimed the men's award and Harding’s Piper Huey earned the women’s honor.
GAC TOP MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER – Reda Jirari, Oklahoma Baptist, So., Houston, Texas
Jirari finished with a 7-0 singles record while playing at the No. 4 , No. 5 and No. 6 positions. Five of Jirari’s seven victories came in straight-set fashion. Since being placed in the everyday lineup on February 27, Jirari owns a perfect 9-0 record. The Bison went 9-0 during this stretch.
GAC TOP WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER – Piper Huey, Harding, Jr., Tulsa, Oklahoma
Huey posted a 5-1 performance, with four wins coming against top-20 regional opponents. Against Arkansas – Fort Smith, she recorded a singles win against Brittaney McCasin, the No. 11 player in South Central Region, and a doubles win against Lindsy Pearce and McCasin, the No. 11 team in the region.
NOTABLE MEN’S NOMINEES
- Carlos Crisotomo, So., Harding (All four victories came in straight-sets; 4-2 during the stretch)
- Alex Fillat, So., East Central (Has a five-game win streak; earned match-winning point vs ESU)
NOTABLE WOMEN’S NOMINEES
- Macarena Sedano Acosta, Jr., Arkansas Tech (Earned wins vs ranked doubles teams and singles players)
- Kateryna Shkot, Jr., Kiev, Ukraine (Went 6-0 in singles, 5-0 in doubles; remains perfect on the year)
