RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the opening weekend of the volleyball season. Ouachita’s Adrianna Nolly garnered the Offensive award, Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Kaitlyn Dillon earned the Defensive honor and Harding’s Rachel Heussner claimed the Setter accolade.
GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Adrianna Nolly, Ouachita, MB, Jr., Denton, Texas
Nolly led the Tigers to a perfect start to the season as they won all four matches at the UAH Classic. After notching 9.5 points against Auburn-Montgomery, she hit .600 with 12 kills and no errors against LeMoyne-Owen. She tallied 20.5 points in a five-set triumph vs West Georgia and recorded the third 20-kill match of her career against the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
GAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kaitlyn Dillon, Southwestern Oklahoma State, DS, Jr., Edmond, Oklahoma
Dillon collected the third GAC Player of the Week award of her career after she averaged 4.82 digs per set at the Pioneer Clasic. She had at least 15 digs in each match, including 29 in SWOSU’s five-set come-from-behind win against St. Edward's. The Bulldogs went 3-1 at the season-opening tournament
GAC SETTER OF THE WEEK – Rachel Heussner, Harding, Sr., Waysata, Minnesota
Heussner earned a spot on the Tarleton State Invitational All-Tournament team after she helped the Lady Bisons post a 3-1 record. She recorded a double-double in a five-set win against Texas A&M-Commerce. She followed up that performance by averaging 11.44 assists against nationally-ranked Tarleton State, Southwest Baptist and Midwestern State.
