#theGAC ANNOUNCES TWO NEW OFFICIATING COORDINATORS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – On Thursday, the Great American Conference announced the hiring of two new officiating coordinators in Carlos Rodriguez for volleyball and Jason Lyon for tennis.
Rodriguez has worked in NCAA volleyball since 2003. That year, he became ASUN Conference’s Coordinator of Officials. He added that same title with the Western Athletic Conference in 2017 and at the Southland Conference in 2018. At the Division II level, he has worked for the Lone Star Conference and the Peach Belt Conference.
Additionally, Rodriguez has been part of the USA Volleyball National Rating/Training Team since 2005 and he has served as chair of the Texas Board of Volleyball Officials since 2002.
Lyon brings 15 years of USTA/ITA Certified experience to the position. He has worked as an official at multiple GAC events and has served as a Chair Official for six Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Lyons has twice been recognized as the Arkansas District Official of the Year and most recently he has served as the Arkansas District Chair of Officials since 2018.
