RIVERHAWKS KNOCK OFF TOP-SEEDED CRIMSON STORM TO RETURN TO #theGAC/MIAA FINAL

BETHANY, Okla. - Flynn Semmerling had two goals as Northeastern State downed top-seeded Southern Nazarene 3-0 Friday evening to advance to the GAC/MIAA Tournament Finals for the second consecutive time.
Semmerling gave NSU the lead in the 22nd minute of the contest beating the SNU defender to the goal.
Northeastern State (10-9) carried a 1-0 lead into the half and struck the Crimson Storm quickly out of the intermission. Luan Lamas scored in the opening minute and Semmerling gave NSU their third goal in 48th on a pass from Lamas.
Brett Ekperuoh recorded the shutout at goal for NSU and had seven saves.
The win over Southern Nazarene (12-6) snapped a five match home shutout streak and ended their season. SNU would out-shoot Northeastern State 16-to-11 and held a 5-to-4 edge in corners.
The RiverHawks will face Fort Hays State in the finals Sunday at 1 p.m. The winner of the contest will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
