ADA, Okla. – The No. 3 East Central University men's basketball team used an 81-56 victory over No. 6 Northwestern Oklahoma State, in the Kerr Activities Center, to advance to the 2020-21 Great American Conference Quarterfinal round.
The Rangers (3-13, 1-12 GAC) opened the game on a 7-0 run, in the first 2:30 minutes NWOSU kept up the pressure over the next three minutes to lead by 10 (12-2). The Tigers (10-8, 9-8 GAC) then started their come back, using an 18-4 run, over the next five minutes, to gain a 20-16 lead
ECU held onto the lead until the final five minutes (25-20). The Rangers then went on a 7-0 run, over the next two minutes, to push ahead by two (27-25). The teams traded shots the rest of the half, with the Tigers hitting a buzzer beater to take a two-point lead into halftime.
In the first 2:30 of the second half, the Tigers pushed the lead to nine (39-30). ECU kept up the pressure throughout the remaining time. They grabbed their first double-digit lead with 16 minutes left (42-32). The advantage grew to 20 with 10 minutes remaining (59-39).
