WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The #16-ranked SWOSU Women's Basketball team had all five starters score in double figures and combined for 82 points as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Ouachita 89-66 to advance in the 2021 Great American Conference Tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed 13-12 after the first quarter, one that saw them hit just 5-of-21 field goal attempts, but they proceeded to score at least 20 points in each of the final three frames as they pulled away for a decisive victory. SWOSU outscored Ouachita 26-16 in the second quarter to take a nine-point halftime lead before pulling away in the third by more than doubling the Tigers up, 31-15 in the quarter.

SWOSU got outstanding contributions from each of the starting five, but none more impressive than Karly Gore, who set new career-highs with 26 points and 13 rebounds, good for her third double-double of the season. Makyra Tramble hit 8-of-17 field goal attempts and finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Bethany Franks (15 points, eight rebounds) and Lauren Ramey (11 points, nine rebounds) also flirted with a double-double in the contest. The Lady Dawgs fifth starter, Macy Gore, chipped in 12 points, five assists and four rebounds.

"A win is a win and I'll take it," SWOSU Head Coach Kelsi Musick said following the game. "It wasn't our best performance, but we were able to battle and our defense allowed us to stay in the game early then get some separation in the third quarter. This time of year, you have to survive and advance and take it 40 minutes at a time. We have to bring the best of us for 40 minutes on Friday against SNU and that's what we're going to work on tomorrow in practice."

The victory improves the Lady Bulldogs to 17-2 on the year and advances them into the semifinals of the GAC Tournament, where they will be matched up against Southern Nazarene. That game will be the fifth meeting between the two teams this season and is set for 5:30 pm on Friday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
