UAM TOPS TIGERS; ADVANCES TO #theGAC QUARTERFINALS

 MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball defeated Ouachita Baptist in four sets Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Great American Conference Tournament. The Blossoms tallied more than 100 digs for just the second time this season while holding OBU to an attack percentage of just .103.

UAM (6-5, 5-5 GAC) jumped out to an early advantage in the first set scoring four straight to go up 6-2. The Blossoms did not look back putting together another run scoring five unanswered to take their largest lead 15-7. One last scoring run delivered UAM the victory in the first set tallying the final four points to win 25-18.

The second set started differently as the Blossoms fell behind from the start before exchanging rallies to keep the Tigers (3-8, 3-7 GAC) close. UAM struck with a late rally to take it first lead of the set scoring five straight to go up 22-19 before holding off OBU to win 25-21.

After taking the early lead in the third set the Blossoms faltered falling 25-14 sending the match to a fourth set.

It was a tight back-and-forth battle in the fourth set, but UAM managed to hold a slight lead throughout. The Blossoms ultimately held off the Tigers to win the set 25-20 and take the match 3-1 to advance to the GAC Tournament quarterfinals.

Mikaela Brown and Isabelle Combs led the way for UAM offensively tallying 16 and 10 kills, respectively.

Katie Pearson spread the ball nicely picking up 36 assists to go along with 15 digs.

Five different Blossoms registered double digit digs in the contest led by Katelyn Richbourg with 34.
