RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the final Women’s Soccer weekly awards for the 2022 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Alimata Rabo claimed Offensive Player; Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Taylor Songster earned Defender while the Rangers’ Maggie Koster and Bulldogs’ Ashley Hughes shared Goalkeeper of the Week.
#theGAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Alimata Rabo, Southwestern Oklahoma State, F, Sr., Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Rabo finished the regular season as the conference’s top goal scorer as she scored three times to help the Bulldogs win their sixth GAC regular-season title. Against Southern Nazarene, she opened the scoring with a goal in the sixth minute. In the finale against Oklahoma Baptist she scored both first-half goals in the 2-0 win.
#theGAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Taylor Songster, Northwestern Oklahoma State, D, Jr., Elkhorn, Nebraska
Songster played 173 of the 180 available minutes in the Rangers’ two matches last week. The defense recorded shutouts against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene. They finished the regular season with three-straight shutouts and six in their last seven games.
#theGAC CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Maggie Koster, Northwestern Oklahoma State, GK, Jr., Wichita, Kansas
Koster registered her third shutout in her last four starts in net as the Rangers recorded a scoreless draw with Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday. For the second time in three matches, she set a single-season high for saves as she successfully stopped 10 Bison tries. She dropped her goals-against average to 1.25, its lowest mark since following her first appearance of the year.
#theGAC CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Ashley Hughes, Southwestern Oklahoma State, GK, So., Sydney, Australia
Hughes surrendered just one goal in two Bulldog victories. In a 4-1 win against Southern Nazarene, she made four saves. In the regular-season finale against Oklahoma Baptist, she made six saves as part of a 2-0 shutout that clinched the regular-season title. Her seven shutouts, 1.03 goals-against average and .832 save percentage all lead the conference.
