LADY BULLDOGS RIDE FAST START TO ADVANCE TO #theGAC SEMIFINALS

 SHAWNEE, Okla. – Top-seeded Southwestern Oklahoma State opened its Great American Conference Women’s Basketball Championships quarterfinal contest with Southeastern Oklahoma State by scoring 25 of the game’s first 29 points en route to registering a 79-63 victory on Thursday from FireLake Arena.
 
The Bulldogs (27-4) limited the Savage Storm (12-17) to just 2-of-12 shooting in the opening period and forced six turnovers. GAC Player of the Year Makyra Tramble picked up three steals in the quarter and SWOSU converted those six turnovers into 11 points.
 
Macy Gore scored all 16 of her points in the first half. She went 6-for-7 from the field and made all three of 3-point attempts. Conversely, Lauren Ramey netted 16 of her team-high 21 points in the second half. She went 7-for-10 in the half and 9-for-17 overall.
 
All five Lady Bulldog starters reached double digits in scoring. Tramble, playing in her hometown, tallied 12 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists. Karly Gore added 13 points and 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Bethany Franks finished with 10 points in 22 minutes of action. The Lady Bulldogs amassed 17 assists on their 30 made field goals. In contrast, Southeastern finished with only four assists on the 26 baskets.
 
Southeastern’s Kamryn Cantwell led all scorers with 31 points. She hit on 13-of-21 shots from the floor. She grabbed 10 rebounds.
 
Following the off day Southwestern Oklahoma State will face the winner of Friday’s contest between Henderson State and East Central in Saturday’s first women’s semifinal, scheduled for 5:45 PM. The Lady Bulldogs won both of their regular-season meetings against both the Reddies and Tigers.
