Game 4: No. 6 Oklahoma Baptist 6, No. 3 Harding 2
Bo Dallas threw a seven-hit complete game while GAC Player of the Year Dan Pruitt and Jose Parga provided the power as Oklahoma Baptist defeated Harding for the first time in four tries this season.
Dallas struck out six and walked one in the 123 pitch effort. He improved to 7-4.
Parga put the Bison (27-20) in front for good with a three-run home run in the fourth inning Pruitt's eighth-inning home run, his 23rd, pulled him to within one of the lead for all of Division II and gave him a DII-leading 163 total bases on the season.
Harding (31-18) briefly held a 2-1 advantage after a lead-off home run by David Butterfield and an Oklahoma Baptist error led to an unearned run.
Game 3: No. 2 Henderson State 2, No. 7 Arkansas-Monticello 1
Luke Farrar came off the bench to deliver a pinch-hit game-winning single as the Reddies claimed a 2-1 win against the Weevils.
Henderson State (36-14) carried a 1-0 into the top of the ninth only to see Arkansas-Monticello (23-23) tie the contest on a successful squeeze bunt.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Weevils brought on Mason Philley for just his third relief appearance of the season. Cade Tucker greeted him with a double and later stole third. After two walks, Farrar drove the 2-1 offering into the right field corner with the game-winning single.
Both starting pitchers excelled on the mound. The Reddies' Spencer Taack threw 6.2 innings of shutout baseball while the Weevils' Spencer Johnston allowed just one run over his 8.0 innings of work.
Game 2: No. 1 Southern Arkansas 17, No. 8 Arkansas Tech 2
GAC Newcomer and Pitcher of the Year Jeremy Adorno improved to an NCAA-leading 14-0 and the Mulerider offense scored in six of eight innings as the Muleriders coasted to a 17-2 victory against Arkansas Tech.
Adorno gave up only one hit in 8.0 innings of work. He struck out five Wonder Boys (25-22) to raise his total to 124, three shy of the GAC's single-season record. With the win, he did break the conference record for wins in a season. Former Mulerider standout James Baune won 13 in 2013.
SAU (38-11) took the lead in the first on a Brandon Nicoll home run and a Chris Lyles single. Leading 3-1 entering the fifth, the Mulerider bats heated up as they scored 14 over their final four trips to the plate. Brett McGee's seventh-inning grand slam broke the game wide open. He finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Lyles added three RBI and six Muleriders scored multiple runs.
Game 1: No. 5 Ouachita 8 No. 4 Southeastern Oklahoma State 7
Ouachita overcame an early deficit then held off a ninth-inning Southeastern Oklahoma State comeback attempt to pick up its first win at the GAC Baseball Championships since winning its opening game of the 2015 Championships .
Trailing 8-5 in the ninth the Savage Storm (32-19) rallied with two outs as five straight batters reached base. Reid Rice narrowly missed hitting a game-winning grand slam on a deep foul ball down the right-field line. Instead he walked to cut the deficit to 8-6. A hit by pitch to Damon Burroughs drew Southeastern one run closer. Cameron Marchant took over on the mound for the Tigers (31-20) and induced a game-ending force out.
Trailing 3-0 after two innings, the Tigers began their comeback with a Cade Burris two-run home run in the fourth inning. The deficit remained one until the seventh inning when they scored six times and sent 11 batters to the plate. An RBI single by GAC Freshman of the Year Wyatt Core put the Tigers in front for good.
After allowing the three runs in the second inning, Tiger starter Cooper Timmons finished his start with five-straight scoreless frames to earn his eighth win of the season.
