RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the fourth Men’s Soccer weekly awards for the 2022 season. Southern Nazarene’s Bruno Ferreira won Offensive Player of the Week. Northeastern State’s Ryan McCully and Niklas Kirhoff claimed Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week.
#theGAC/MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Bruno Ferreira, Southern Nazarene, F, Gr., Santos, Sau Paulo - Brazil
Ferreira scored his second goal of the season and added an assist in the Crimson Storm’s 4-1 win against Ouachita Baptist in their GAC/MIAA opener. His goal, the eventual game winner, came in the 11th minute on a feed from Unaiz Shajani. His six assists lead all of Division II and ranks fifth across all three NCAA divisions.
#theGAC/MIAA DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Ryan McCully, Northeastern State, D, Sr., Wichita, Kansas
McCully scored a goal in both matches and anchored a RiverHawk defense that produced two shutouts and limited Harding and Ouachita to an average of seven shots over the opening weekend of GAC/MIAA Play. The RiverHawks have registered three consecutive shutouts and have not allowed a goal in more than 347 minutes.
#theGAC/MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Niklas Kirhoff, Northeastern State, GK, Sr., Bonn, Germany
Kirhoff recorded a pair of shutouts at keeper for the RiverHawks as they opened conference play with a 4-0 win at Harding and a 3-0 win at Ouachita. He tallied three saves in both contests. He leads the GAC/MIAA with a .867 save percentage, and three shutouts.
