OKLAHOMA BAPTIST LEADS #theGAC ALL-SPORTS RACES AFTER FALL SEASON

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist owns the lead in the race for the Great American Conference All-Sports Commissioner’s Cup and the President’s Trophy following the fall sports seasons. The Tigers lead Harding, the two-time All-Sports champion, by 1.5 points for the Commissioner’s Cup and by almost three percentage points for the President’s Trophy.

The Bison claimed their fourth regular-season title in women’s soccer in the last seven seasons. They shared the volleyball title with Harding, the program’s fourth since 2019. When combined with a second-place finish in men’s cross country, a fourth-place result in women’s cross country and a tie for fifth in football Oklahoma Baptist amassed 42 points out of a possible 51 for an 82.4 percent score for the President’s Trophy.

Harding’s football season highlighted the Bisons’ fall season. They completed their second undefeated regular season to win their third GAC title. They ran through Central Missouri, Grand Valley State, Lenoir-Rhyne and Colorado School of Mines to capture the program’s first national title. Harding’s share of the volleyball title gave the Lady Bisons seven in program history. The Bisons finished third in men’s cross country, fifth in women’s cross country and fifth in women’s soccer.. Harding scored 40.5 points for a 79.4 percentage.

Ouachita Baptist placed third in both standings. The Tigers finished second in women’s cross country while tying for second in both football and women’s soccer. The won the women’s soccer tournament title to reach the NCAA Tournament for second time in program history.

East Central finished the fall in fourth place. The Tigers swept the men’s and women’s titles at the cross country championships. The men went on to win the Central Region Championship and finish third at the NCAA Championships.

Southern Arkansas took fifth in both standings. Southern Nazarene placed sixth in the Commissioner’s Cup standings while Henderson State claimed sixth in the President’s Trophy.

Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma State tied for seventh for the President’s Trophy. Southwestern Oklahoma State placed eighth in the Commissioner’s Cup. Northwestern Oklahoma State and Arkansas-Monticello rounded out the two standings.

The GAC determines the winner of the Commissioner’s Cup to the GAC school that totals the most cumulative points in the 14 countable sports of men’s and women’s cross country, football, volleyball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s tennis, men’s women’s track & field, men’s and women’s golf, softball and baseball while the President’s Trophy goes to the program that earns the highest percentage of points based on the sports they sponsor.
