REDDIES OVERTAKE BISONS FOR LEAD AT #theGAC MEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

 HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Three Henderson State Reddies broke par during Monday’s second round of the Great American Conference Men’s Golf Championships allowing the Reddies to move into first place after 36 holes of play from Hot Springs Country Club.

Miller Harris paced the stellar effort with a 6-under par 66. He picked up birdies and an eagle on the par-5 10th hole. He took over the top spot in the individual championship chase at 7-under. Ethan Wilkins posted his second-straight sub-par round, this time a 1-under 71, to end the round in fourth place. Alex Hadden added a 2-under 70 to tie for fifth.

The low individual round of the day came from Southern Arkansas’ Caleb Miller. After a 73 on Sunday, he roared into second place after a sterling bogey-free, 7-under 65. In addition to five birdies, he holed out for eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. He matched the low round in tournament history, joining Arkansas Tech’s Nick Shapiro and Southern Nazarene’s Michael Hearne.

Harding, the first-round leaders, played the second round 19 shots higher than its first round. Leo Maciejek maintained a spot inside the top-five as a second-round 1-under 71 left him in third place, three shots behind Harris. Despite an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole, Sam Tandy, the first-round leader, mustered only a 6-over 78 to drop back into eighth.

Southern Nazarene moved up two spots into fourth - three shots ahead of Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Crimson Storm’s Zander Tway climbed up 13 spots and into the top 10 following an even-par round. The Rangers’ Ryder Heuston tallied four birdies and shot a 2-under 70 to get back to even par for the tournament. He ended the round in seventh place.

Southeastern Oklahoma State, Arkansas Tech and Arkansas-Monticello rounded out team standings, The Savage Storm’s Dalton McGinnis birdied three holes and eagled the par-5 sixth hole as part of a 2-under 70. He joined Hadden in a tie for fifth. UAM’s T.J. Baker made the biggest ascent up the leaderboard. A Sunday 5-over 77 positioned him in 37th. However, a 1-under 71 on Monday rocketed him up into a tie for 11th.
