#theGAC WOMEN’S & MEN’S TRACK & FIELD PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK (WEEK SIX)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s track & field top performers of the week for the sixth week of the 2024 season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Madison Rowe and Oklahoma Baptist’s Anisha Henderson captured the women’s accolades. Harding’s Dakarai Bush and the BIson’s Alexander Schovanec earned the men’s honors.

#theGAC WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Madison Rowe, So., Southeastern Oklahoma State, Arlington, Texas
Rowe achieved a pair of personal bests at the John McDonnell Invitational. In the 400-meter dash, she garnered an NCAA Provisional time of 55.48 seconds. In  the 200, she broke the 25-second mark for the first time of her career. She ran the second-leg of the Savage Storm’s 4x400-meter relay that turned in a NCAA Provisional time of 3:47.18 seconds.

#theGAC WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Anisha Henderson, So., Oklahoma Baptist, Plano, Texas
Henderson won the long jump and triple jump at the Ford Mastin Twilight. In the long jump, she improved upon her NCAA Provisional status with a victorious distance of 6.04 meters, a mark that ranks 14th in Division II. She lept 11.69 meters in claiming the triple jump title.

#theGAC MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Dakarai Bush, Sr., Harding, Tatum, Texas
Bush registered a pair of NCAA Provisional times and at the John McDonnell Invitational and ran the anchor leg of a 4x100-meter team that also notched an NCAA provisional time. In the 400, he won the event with the fastest time in Division II, 45.79 seconds. He placed third in the 200 with the 11th-best time in the  country, 20.82 seconds, .

#theGAC MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Alexander Schovanec, Sr., Oklahoma Baptist, Tecumseh, Oklahoma
Schovanec won a pair of throwing events at the Ford Mastin Twilight. He achieved an NCAA Provisional mark in the shot put with a top effort of 16.82 meters. He added a victory in the discus by almost six meters. He took second in the hammer throw  to his teammate Matthew Higdon.
