http://theGAC BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State made Great American Conference history by becoming the first school to win three-straight Women’s Tennis Championships as the top-seeded Savage Storm defeated No. 2 Southern Arkansas, 4-0, on Saturday from Memorial Park.

The Savage Storm (18-7), ranked No. 45 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, handled the No. 16 Muleriders (20-5) for the second time in the last four weeks. They captured the doubles point thanks to victories by Amishi Shukla and Milana Voloshyn - 6-1 at No. 3 - and Jou Chen Chen and Larissa Giraldi Correa - 7-5 at No. 2.

In singles play, Chen notched the team’s second point. She defeated Roksana Kokocha, 6-4, 6-4. Soon after, Correa collected her first singles win of the GAC Championships. She bested Amelie Gindl, 6-4, 6-3.

Two matches approached finality almost simultaneously as Voloshyn and Georgia Hosking each looked to secure the clinching point. After claiming first-set wins, both held 6-5 advantages in the second set. Ultimately, Voloshyn closed out Lisa Loechter, 6-4, 7-5, to clinch the title, the fifth in program history.

Southeastern earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Championships. The Savage Storm will learn their first-round opponent at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 6 during the selection show that streams on NCAA.com The Muleriders entered the GAC Championships ranked fifth in the region and awaits a potential at-large berth.
