LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - Following regional voting, the Little Rock Touchdown Club, in conjunction with the Great American Conference, revealed the eight finalists for the 2025 Harlon Hill Trophy, the NCAA Division II College Football Player of the Year.
The NCAA Division II sports information directors selected the finalists through a round of regional voting. The eight finalists will now be placed on the national ballot where all 177 of the division’s school and conference SIDs will select the award’s 39th winner.
The top two players from the four Super Regions advanced to the national ballot. Six quarterbacks and two running backs comprised the list of 2025 finalists.
Curtis Allen, a senior running back from Virginia Union, and Kutztown quarterback Judd Novak advanced from Super Region #1.
Two that shared the field on Saturday in the second round of the playoffs - Newberry College quarterback Reed Charpia and West Florida quarterback Marcus Stokes - moved on from Super Region #2.
From Super Region #3, two quarterbacks - Minnesota State Moorhead senior Jack Strand and Indianapolis senior Gavin Sukup - claimed the two finalist spots.
Harding junior running back Andrew Miller and Western Colorado senior quarterback Drew Nash garnered the two finalist slots from Super Region #4.
Seven of the eight finalists helped their teams advance to NCAA Division II playoffs. Three - Novak, Charpia and Miller - will compete in this weekend’s quarterfinal matchups.
All eight finalists hail from schools that have never produced a Harlon Hill Award winner. Sukup and Strand became the first Hill finalists from their respective schools. Novak became Kutztown’s first finalist since Andy Breault in 1992.
The winner of the 2025 award will be announced on Friday, December 19.
The Hill Trophy is named for the late Harlon Hill - the former University of North Alabama standout - who excelled with the Lions from 1950-53 before going on to fame in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.
