SEARCY, Arkansas – Henderson State scored multiple runs in every inning as the Reddies defeated Harding, 21-5, on Saturday in game two of the Great American Conference Baseball Championship finals series from Jerry Moore Field.
Eight of Henderson State (32-21) starters scored runs and eight drove in runs. The Reddies came up with critical two-out hits throughout the game. Thirteen of their first 15 runs came with two outs.
GAC Newcomer of the Year Jeremy Schork went 3-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBI. First-Team All-GAC selection Luke Farrar and first baseman Luke Rice each scored three runs and drove in two. Farrar added a stolen base.
Jaxson Gregg hit a three-run home run in the first inning. He added a sacrifice fly RBI in the sixth inning.
The 21 runs established a single-game record for runs in a GAC Championship game
Reddie starter Cole Rodriguez registered the team’s first complete game of the season. In his 7.0 innings of work, he struck out five and improved to 6-2.
Four of the Bisons’ five runs came via the home run. Logan Lacey and Collin Helms hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning. Nathan Bowie homered in the second inning and Coulton Doyle hit a solo home run in the fifth.
The Reddies and Bisons play game three of the championship series at noon on Sunday.
