SAU WINS #theGAC 2025 WOMEN’S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

 FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – Top-seeded Southern Arkansas completed an undefeated run against Great American Conference women’s tennis opponents as the Muleriders defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State, 4-2, on Sunday at the UREC Tennis Center to win the 2025 GAC Championship.

GAC Player of the Year Amelie Gindl won the clinching point as she overcame losing the first set to Carol Mora by scoring a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles.

GAC Freshman of the Year Maria Fiacan claimed the first point for SAU (18-6) by defeating Larissa Giraldi Correa 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3. Josie Holderbach improved to 7-0 against GAC foes by besting Milana Voloshyn in straight sets. Ifigeneia Kafka secured the third point for the Muleriders, a 6-3, 7-5 win, on court No. 4.

The Muleriders dropped the doubles point after the Savage Storm (16-6) teams of Jou Chen Chen and Mora and Emilse Ruiz and Amishi Shukla won on No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Sara Gonzalez put Southeastern up 2-0 following a 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

The Muleriders earned the program’s second trip to the NCAA Tournament.  Southern Arkansas, ranked fourth in the final regular-season Central Region rankings, will learn its opponent and destination during Monday morning’s NCAA Selection show. It streams on NCAA.com at 7:30 p.m. The Savage Storm, sixth in the final ranking, seek an at-large bid.
