SECTION 1: DETERMINING CHAMPIONS
1.1 ... A conference champion will be named in each Conference sponsored sport. In sports with fewer than six member institutions competing, the championship is for the benefit of the student-athletes even though no automatic qualifier is at stake.
1.2 ... The Conference champion will be the team with the best won-loss record in conference play unless the Conference holds a championship event in that sport.
SECTION 2: TIE-BREAK
2.1 ... Two-Way Ties: In the event of a two-way tie, the seed positions are determined by:
a) Record against each other;
b) Record against common opponents in descending order starting with the highest seeded team;
c) If the above formula is not conclusive, the Commissioner shall conduct a coin flip to determine the highest seeded team(s).
2.2 ...
Multiple ties:
a) At the conclusion of Conference play, if three or more teams are tied, positions will be set by the win--loss percentage against other tied teams collectively. If two or more teams are tied, the remaining teams are placed at the beginning of the appropriate formula for Multiple Ties or Two--Way Ties until all ties have been broken.
b) If one team does not have a winning record (more games won) against the other tied teams collectively, the individual records against the other Conference opponents in descending order starting with the top-seeded team are compared.
SECTION 3: CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS
3.1 ... Whenever possible, Conference Championships will be held at neutral sites selected by the Conference.
3.2 ... Conference Championships in any sport shall not be scheduled or conducted on a date within the final examination period (as shown in the member institutions' catalogs) of any Conference member institution except baseball and softball, which shall have their Conference championships scheduled to begin one to two weeks prior to the date scheduled for the beginning of the NCAA Regional championships and to minimize total missed class time for the participating teams.
3.3 ... Playing rules and conditions for all conference championships shall be governed as set forth in the Operating Code.
3.4 ... All expenses associated with administering a Conference championship event shall be borne by the host institution, and the host institution shall retain any net profit or assume any deficit, unless stated otherwise in the Operating Code for that sport.
3.5 ... Teams participating in Conference championship events shall be responsible for their own travel expenses, unless stated otherwise in the Operating Code for that sport.
3.6 ... Admission prices for Conference championship events shall be determined by the host institution and approved by the Commissioner.
3.7 ... Start times for Conference championship events shall be determined by the host institution and approved by the Commissioner, unless specified differently in the sport operating code.
3.8 ... There will be no complimentary admissions or use of season tickets covering regular-season contests in conference championship events in which tickets are sold.
3.9 ... Pass lists may not be used (except for certified media personnel) at Conference Championship events without prior approval of the Conference office.
3.10 ... The Conference office shall provide the Conference championship awards.
3.11 ... The host is the athletic director for any Conference championship event held on campus and shall provide the Conference office with a complete and detailed financial statement of the event upon request by the Commissioner.
SECTION 4: AUTOMATIC QUALIFIER
4.1 ... The NCAA representative for postseason play shall be the Conference Champion in sports in which automatic berths are awarded by the NCAA.
